An unusual 19th Century English fusee lever by Arnold and Dent with split subsidiary seconds in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement. Harrison's maintaining power. Plain cock with diamond endstone, compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. English table roller lever escapement escape pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds at twelve o'clock, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. The seconds subsidiary has two hands which are normally synchronised. Holding down a button in the pendant stops one of the hands which returns to join the other when the button is released. The watch can be stopped by a lateral steel lever under the front bezel. Plain silver open face case, maker's mark "JD" and number corresponding to that on the movement. Signed Arnold & Dent London,Hallmarked London 1837,Diameter 53 mm
