Reproduced by kind permission of Pieces of Time - E-Mail: [email protected]

An unusual gem set silver gilt desk clock in the form of a carriage being drawn by butterflies. Small full plate gilt fusee verge movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Wound through the white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, gilt Breguet hands. The movement housed in a plain drum with a glazed hinged front door and clip on glazed back. This sits on an ornate carriage constructed from pierced and engraved silver gilt frames. A small cast cherub drives the carriage holding the reigns to three well modelled butterflies pulling the coach. The dial side of the coach set with white and red gem stones. Pierced and engraved wheels sitting on a rectangular lapis lazuli base. Signed: Hunziker à Paris.
