Exquisite, skelettierte Directoire Lyrenpendule mit Apollohaupt Geh.: feuervergoldete Bronze und Marmor. Ovaler, weißer Marmorsockel mit aufgelegtem vergoldeten Perlendekor und Draperie. Das lyrenförmige Gehäuse verziert mit gegossenem Akanthuslaub, Perlenbändern und Blütenfeston, bekrönt vom Strahlenkranz umgebenden Apollohaupt. Ziffbl.: Email, radiale röm. Zahlen, Zentralsekunde, rot bemalter radialer Kalenderring, signiert, vergoldete "Fleur de Lys"-Zeiger und gebläuter, pfeilförmiger Kalenderzeiger, perlstabverzierte Lunette. Werk: Das Zentrum des Zifferblattes zeigt das runde Messing-Vollplatinenwerk mit skelettierten Platinen, 2 Federhäuser, 1 Hammer / 1 Glocke, Schlossscheibe, Scherenhemmung, Schneidenaufhängung.

"Die Lyra ist als Attribut Apollos zu verstehen, dessen Haupt im Strahlenkranz als Bekrönung erscheint. Die Dekoration mit Symbolen des Sonnengottes steht im Einklang mit der Funktion der Uhr. An exquisite, skeletonized Directoire lyre mantel clock with head of Apollon Case: firegilt bronze and marble. Oval, white marble base mounted with gilt pearl chain and drapery. The lyre case cast with acanthus, pearls chains and flowers garlands, surmounted by the sunburst head of Apollon. Dial: enamel dial, radial Roman hours, centre seconds, red-painted radial calendar ring, signed, gilt "Fleur de Lys" hour hands and blued arrow-shaped calendar hand, bead patterned bezel. Movm.: the center of the dial displaying the circular brass full plate movement with skeletonized plates, 2 barrels, 1 hammer / 1 bell, locking plate, pinwheel escapement, knife edge suspension.

"The lyre is known as a common attribute of Apollo, whose head surrounded by rays of light forms the top part of the piece. Jean Simon Bourdier (1760-1839) One of the most innovative clockmakers of his time, Jean-Simon Bourdier became a maitre horloger in Paris on 22 September 1787. He is recorded as working in the rue des Precheurs in 1787, quai de 1'Horloge du Palais circa 1790, rue Mazarine in 1801, rue Saint-Saveur in 1812 and rue Saint-Denis in 1830. He gained a silver medal in the 1806 and 1879 produits de I'industrie exhibitions. He is known to have worked with the ebenistes Lieutaud and Riesener as well as the bronziers Galle, Thomire and Remond. his dials were painted by the emailleurs Dubuisson and Coteau.
