After many experiments 1953 the first special wristwatch for divers was brought on the market by Rolex — the Submariner. Initially, the water-resistance was only guaranteed up to 100 m. Over the years this model was then constantly refined.

Today, the Submariner is rightly counted to the most famous luxury watches in the world, perhaps it is even the best known of all.

Dial:

Brilliant black, indexes with Superluminova and set in white gold. Dot indixes are on the 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11 o'clock positions, bar indixes at the 6 and 9 o'clock position, and a single triangle index at 12 o'clock. The date window is at the 3 o'clock position
