A last quarter of the 18th. ventury Bohemian ebonised grande sonnerie table clock. The inverted bell top surmounted by a brass handle with four pineapple finials, over the glazed break arch door, brass sound frets and fluted angled corners, raised on a shallow plinth base and brass bracket feet, the 7.5 inch Roman and Arabic enamel dial with subsidiary repeat/not repeat, strike/not strike dials either side of the central calendar dial within the arch, the triple train fusee movement striking the quarters on one bell, followed by the hour on a second, signed to the backplate. 50.5cm (20in) high. Footnotes Leopold Schmidt is recorded as working in Prague in the late 18th century.
