- The hallmark design for the German standard system of identification of the purity of precious metals were defined on 7th January, 1886. The basis of this system was the "Law regarding the purity of gold and silver wares" („Gesetz über den Feingehalt der Gold und Silberwaren“) from 16th July, 1884.
