Glashütte, April 2010

With brightly glowing hands and appliques on its black dial, the GRAND LANGE 1 “Luminous” stands out prominently at night as well, showcased in a white-gold case with a diameter of nearly 42 millimetres.

Since it had its debut more than 15 years ago, the LANGE 1 has been inspiring the iconic style of A. Lange & Söhne timepieces. Featuring a distinctively asymmetric dial configuration, the patented outsize date, and an immaculately crafted manufacture calibre with a power reserve of three days, it generated a fresh breeze in the global precision watchmaking community. Not surprisingly, it soon became one of the venerable manufactory’s most phenomenal bestsellers. It also ranks among the watches that received the most awards in the entire history of horology.

In 2003, the manufactory presented the GRAND LANGE 1 for enthusiasts of this design icon who prefer larger-format timepieces. It embodies all of the intrinsic values of the original inside a case with a diameter of 41.9 millimetres.

With a black, solid-silver dial in a stately white-gold case, the newly designed GRAND LANGE 1 “Luminous” now leverages its personality with even greater contrast. Thanks to luminous hands and appliques in rhodiumed gold with Superluminova fillings, the dial is easily visible even in the dark. Thus, the impressive beacon from Saxony sets the stage for high-precision timekeeping by day and by night.

In technical terms, the proven L901.2 calibre offers everything that aficionados around the world associate with A. Lange & Söhne and superior quality “Made in Germany”. It incorporates typical design features and style elements such as the three-quarter plate
