Englischer Uhrmacher
Morris Tobias war von etwa 1794 bereits als Uhrmacher tätig, zuerst im Bell Dock Yard No. 68, Wapping, London. Tobias erhielt ein Patent für ein Zifferblatt und Uhr welche neben der zeit auch der Zahl vom Glasen zeigte. Die Zeiteinheit „Glasen“ (30 Minuten) entstand aufgrund der Glaskörper der Sanduhr. Mann nennte diese Uhren "Tobias Binnacle Clocks", der Minuten Zeiger drehte in einer Halbe-Stunde rund.
Morris Tobias und sein Neffe Meyer Isaac Tobias gründete die Firma M. Tobias & Co. auch Morris Tobias & Co. Die Firma wurde um 1800 gegründet und bestand bis 9. Oktober 1810, es wurde aber erst in der London Gazette von 1814 erwähnt !
