Glashütte Original dedicates one of a kind for a good cause: Unique Senator Chronometer for Only Watch 2011
On September 23, 2011, the Principality of Monaco will stage the world-famous charity watch auction ONLY WATCH. Within the fourth edition of the World’s first luxury watch charity auction, 40 watch brands will donate a unique timepiece to collect money to find a cure against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The Saxon manufactory Glashütte Original will participate for the second time. This time with its most iconic watch: The Senator Chronometer, an homage to the illustrious tradition of marine chronometers made in Glashütte.
This one of a kind version, dedicated to Only Watch 2011, is housed in a red gold case with an elegant matt black dial highlighting the roman numerals and panorama date. Perfectly visible is the second hand on the background of a silver sub-dial.
The crown is topped by a black Onyx Cabochon. The number 1/1 clearly states that this Senator Chronometer only exists once worldwide.
To obtain chronometer certification in Germany, the complete watch (not just the movement) has to undergo a series of tough tests to establish its precision and rate.
Precise synchronization of the minute and second hands has been made possible by the in-house constructed Glashütte Original manual winding Calibre 58-01, which powers the Senator Chronometer model.
The Senator Chronometer Only Watch 2011 is accompanied by a unique wood case created as a tribute to marine chronometer housings of the past.
Before the watches will be auctioneed end of September in Monaco, the Only Watch 2011 collection will be showcased in a world tour that will visit most of the world’s luxury collection capitals: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Milan and Geneva.
