Gerhard Muth war in der 2. Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts in Frankfurt am Main ansässig. Er fertigte neben Sonnenuhren [2] auch mechanische Kunstuhren mit polygonalen Zahnrädern [3]. Exemplare dieser mechanischen Uhren finden sich im Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien und im Mathematisch-Physikalischen Salon in Dresden [4].
