Bedeutende, seltene Silber-Doppelgehäuse-Spindeltaschenuhr mit einzigartigem Schildpatt-Piqué und Perlmutt verziertem Gehäuse.
Geh.: Übergehäuse - Silber, aufwändiges Ranken- und Muscheldekor, aufgelegte hochfein gravierte Silberornamente und Schildpatt-Piqué mit Perlmuttintarsien, großes Außenscharnier. Innengehäuse - Silber, glatt. Ziffbl.: Silber, Champlevé, radiale röm. Stunden, im Zentrum Kartusche mit gepunztem und graviertem Löwen und Einhorn, signiert, gebläute Fleur-de-Lys-Zeiger. Werk: feines Vollplatinenwerk, Schlüsselaufzug, feuervergoldet, aufgelegte gravierte Ornamente, Kette/Schnecke, aufwändig durchbrochen gearbeitete Pfeiler, dreiarmige Stahlunruh, gebläute Unruhspirale, fein floral gravierter, durchbrochen gearbeiteter Unruhkloben mit Phantasievögeln und Maskaron.

Ein eindrucksvolles Stück; die Ornamentierung des Außengehäuses ist außergewöhnlich luxuriös und in ausgezeichnetem Zustand. Perlmutt ist ein filigranes Material, das nur selten für Uhrgehäuse verwendet wird. Es ist daher ausgesprochen ungewöhnlich, ein Gehäuse dieser Art zu finden, das sich in solch fast perfektem Zustand befindet.

An important and rare silver pair-cased verge pocket watch with unique tortoiseshell piqué and mother-of-pearl case.
Case: outer case - silver, elaborate foliate scroll and shell decoration, very finely engraved silver applications and tortoiseshell piqué decor inset with mother-of-pearl patterns, large lateral hinge. Inner case - silver, polished. Dial: silver, Champlevé, radial Roman hours, central cartouche signed, embossed and engraved with the Lion Rampant on the left and the Unicorn on the right, blued Fleur-de-Lys hands. Movm.: fine full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, applied engraved ornaments, chain/fusee, elaborately pierced pillars, three-arm steel balance, blued balance spring, fine florally engraved, pierced balance cock with mythological birds and mascaron.

An impressive watch. The decorative work on the outer case is unusually extravagant and is in extremely fine condition. Mother of pearl is a delicate material, seldom used on watch cases. It is very rare to find cases employing this technique in reasonable order, this one has survived almost undamaged.
