English Watchmaker
Edward Prior esquire was born on 25 December 1780, son of the English watchmaker George Prior.
After the dear of his father in 1814, Edward inherited the watchmaking shop in London. Father George und son Edward manufactured mainly verge pocket watches for the Ottoman market.
In 1851 Edward had already retired from the watch business. The latter was picked up by the watchmaker William Chambers until 1866, and then by his son George Chambers until 1878.
Edward Prior died on 4 March 1859.
Pocket watches signed Edward Prior were sold also after 1878, since around 1900 the Swiss watch-company Constant Piguet delivered a pocket watch with repetition to "Edward Prior" for the Ottoman market.
