Jean Romilly à Paris, circa 1780. An unusual form watch, probably produced in Vienna using a French movement.

An early 19th Century verge in an unusual silver and enamel octagonal case in the style of a 17th Century rock crystal watch with matching chatelaine. Circular full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel endstone, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Silver gilt oval dial decorated with champleve black, red and green translucent enamel. Circular white enamel chapter of Roman numerals, decorative pierced gold hands. The case made in the style of an early 17th Century octagonal rock crystal watch. Faceted glass body and cover in hinged silver gilt frames decorated with champleve black, red and green translucent enamel. The octagonal buckle similarly decorated, the frame securing a deep bevel glass over a painting of an early 17th Century lady wearing a ruff. Three pierced silver gilt chains, also decorated with champleve black, red and green translucent enamel, matching key on a light silver chain.
