Barocke Wiener Stutzuhr mit Viertelstundenrepetition, Viertelstunden-/Stundenselbstschlag, Vollkalender und Mondphase. Gehäuse Mahagonifurnier, vergoldete Messingbeschläge, vierseitig verglast, Schnurzug für Repetition. Messing Zifferblatt, graviert, aufgelegte Silberziffernringe. Rechteckiges Messing-Vollplatinenwerk, graviert, Kette/Schnecke für Gehwerk, 2 Federhäuser für Schlagwerk, 2 Hämmer / 2 Glocken, balusterförmige Werkspfeiler, Spindelhemmung, Kurzpendel mit Fadenaufhängung.

A baroque quarter repeating Viennese bracket clock with quarter hour/hour strike, full calendar and moon phase. Mahogany veneer case, gilt brass mountings , glazed on four sides, cord for activating the repetition. Brass dial, engraved, applied silver chapter rings. Rectangular brass full plate movement, engraved, chain/fusee for going train, 2 barrels for striking train, 2 hammers / 2 bells, baluster-shaped movement pillars, verge escapement, silk suspended short pendulum. The high rectangular case with openwork floral brass mountings rises on four gilded disc feet. The front, back and sides are glazed. Crowned by an inverted bell top with four gilt bronze vase finials and a richly decorated handle. The elaborately ornamented brass dial, engraved with a double-headed eagle, features a silver chapter ring with inlaid radial Roman hours. In the centre an opening showing the pendulum, window showing the date at "VI". Spandrels with applied silver plaques depicting the four evangelists. Four small applied silver chapter rings in the upper part: to the left, days of the week with planets of the day, to the right, months with zodiac signs. Between them an opening for the moon phase with engraved disc and blued starry sky, moon age. Above, on/off indicators for the repeater and for the strike. The rectangular brass full plate movement is entirely engraved and shows in the centre Maria Immaculata in the centre and the Bible verse "Macula non est in te. in Hoh:Song Salam Cap 4 Vr" (Song of Solomon, chapter 4, verse 7: the (hereditary) stain is not in you).

Philipp Jaques Simon was a clockmaker in Vienna. He is mentioned as a citizen of Leopoldtstadt in the period 1737-1752. Another bracket clock by Simon is held in the Cistercian Abbey of Zwettl in Austria.
