Rare mid 19th Century Swiss cylinder with regulator dial incorporating a thermometer. Keywind gilt bar movement with large suspended going barrel. Plain cock with unusual blue steel regulator and temperature compensation curb. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Frosted two colour metal dial with subsidiaries for hours and minutes, a large sector at twelve displays the temperature marked "Reaumur - Froid - Chaud", blue steel hands. Slim plain 18 carat open face case, wound and set through the gold cuvette. Signed Sylvain Mairet Locle, Circa 1850, Diameter 46 mm
