Xantia SA competence center for Swiss-made private-label watches
1962 Edmund Knutti founds the Xantia watch manufacture as a simple partnership, headquartered in Evilard.
1983 The business is converted to a joint stock company. Its core activity is the manufacture of private-label watches.
1989 Michel Thiévent, a long-term employee of Xantia SA, acquires the share capital and management of the company.
1993 Xantia SA moves to Spitalstrasse 12 in Bienne. The private-label activities are intensified.
1994 Jean-Pierre Loetscher joins Xantia SA.
2000 Victorinox acquires Xantia SA. Michel Thiévent and Michel Hofer are responsible for the manufacture and development of Victorinox - Swiss Army watches; Jean-Pierre Loetscher takes on the responsibility for private-label watches for other brands.
2006 Jean-Pierre Loetscher takes over Xantia SA following a management buyout and moves into a new site in Gurzelenstrasse 16 in Bienne. Alongside the traditional outlets for private.label watches, new markets are established for watches with additional functions and applications. This applies to the leisure and outdoor sectors and to “non-watch” projects that integrate special functions in watches for use in medical, transponder, and monitoring applications, etc.
Xantia SA positions itself as competence center for Swiss-made private-label watches. Jean-Pierre Loetscher, CEO, and Michel Hofer, Director Marketing and Sales, are responsible for operations and management.
