Glashütte Original opens in Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré German watchmaker chooses Paris for its first monobrand boutique in Europe

The Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is one of the world’s most fascinating streets. Rich in history, it has long been popular among artists and other creative professionals seeking a congenial place to live, and today hosts an impressive array of galleries, haute couture brands and opulent boutiques. This exclusive location has recently welcomed a new resident, Glashütte Original. After examining a number of potential venues, the renowned German manufacturer of high-end mechanical watches has chosen Paris and the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to open its first flagship boutique outside of Glashütte in Europe.

The design of the boutique is minimalistic, yet creates a warm and comfortable feeling. Its fixtures have been chosen carefully to represent the Brand values. One side is dedicated to the rich heritage of 165 years of watchmaking in the small Saxon town of Glashütte. A "library-like" style, prints highlighting scenes of watchmaking through the years, and details of today’s work in the Manufactory convey the quintessential style and substance of Glashütte Original.

On the opposite side, two seamless plasma screens create an innovative presentation system, further expression of German manufacturing prowess and the passion for engineering and technology so clearly a part of its DNA. The interactive system is controlled by a touch-pad integrated in a drawer in the lounge area table and features high-definition images from the Glashütte Original Collection, along with videos presenting the company and showing the production of its finely crafted timepieces.

One of the most fascinating of recent Glashütte Original watches is the new PanoMaticCounter XL, with its unusual double-digit counter display (00-99). The first five PanoMaticCounter XL have been dedicated to the new flagship boutique in Paris; the company logo and its address Saint-Honoré and Paris are engraved on the case back.

The "look & feel" of the new boutique will be used as a blueprint for additional international locations. Glashütte Original operates five mono-brand boutiques worldwide, in prestigious locations in Paris, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and in Glashütte, within the walls of the manufactory at Altenberger Strasse 1.
