Multiple product awards for horological masterpieces from Saxony
A. Lange & Söhne’s anniversary year, in which the traditional Saxon watch brand has celebrated the founding of the German precision watchmaking industry 165 years ago by Ferdinand A. Lange, is coming to an extremely successful conclusion with no less than 17 international awards. Since the launch of its first collection of watches in modern times 16 years ago, the refined timepieces from Saxony have scooped more than 150 awards, including almost 100 first prizes.
With four further prizes, the LANGE ZEITWERK wrote another chapter in its success story that started in 2009. The prestigious “red dot design award” (Product Design category) was the second major award to recognise the outstanding design of this mechanical wristwatch, which features precisely jumping numerals and is the first watch of its type to offer such clarity of display. The members of Timezone.com, one of the most important international forums for wristwatch enthusiasts, voted it “Watch of the Year” in March. Since its launch in May 2009, the LANGE ZEITWERK has now won a total of twelve awards.
At this year’s ViennaTime and MunichTime watch shows the TOURBOGRAPH “Pour le Mérite” from the “165 Years – Homage to F. A. Lange” collection was the clear favourite of visitors and watch experts alike. In all four relevant votes this grand complication in a new gold alloy of previously unattained hardness was among the top three watches in the “Complicated Mechanism” category. Presented for the first time at the Geneva Watch Salon SIHH in January, the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR was the first choice of the public and the expert jury at MunichTime with both ranking it number one in the “Classical Elegance” category. The same view was expressed by the readers of the Austrian weekly magazine “Format” who bestowed it with the “Chrono Award” in the “First Class” category.
