Benjamin Sidey (Junior) wurde vermutlich im Jahre 1711 geboren als Sohn von Benjamin Sidey (1). Um 1731 wurde er zum Uhrmacher ausgebildet. Sidey wurde am 16. Oktober 1754 in den "Court of Assistants" der Clockmakers Company gewählt, und "Warden" in 1758 bis 1760. Sidey wurde im Jahre 1761 Meister der Clockmakers Company und Upper Warden in 1788. Im Jahre 1789 wurde er wieder zum Meister der Clockmakers Company benannt, er war ein äußerst aktives mitglied der Company. Von Benjamin Sidey sind 2 Adressen bekannt: Pavement 5, Moorfields, London und St. Stephen, Coleman Street, London. Benjamin war vermutlich erst nach 1795 in Pavement 5, Moorfields, London ansässig, da sein Testament vom 17. August 1794 noch in der Coleman Street aufgezeichnet wurde.

Benjamin Sidey verstarb um 1797 in London. Er war, wie sein Testament zeigt, sehr wohlhabend. Auch die Clockmakers Company wurde in seinem Testament bedacht, was auch in den Archiven der Company zu finden ist: Am 7. September 1795 macht der "Renter Warden" der Worshipfull Company of Watch Makers bekannt das er aus dem Erbe von Benjamin Sidey £ 300 bekommen hat.

Testament von Benjamin Sidey

I Benjamin Sidey of London Watchmaker in the Parish of St Stephen Coleman Street being of perfect Mind and Memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. I Give and Bequeath to my half Sister Hester Mitchell Wife of William Mitchell three hundred Pounds and in Case of her Demise two hundred of the said Sum to her Husband William Mitchell. I also Give and Bequeath to their two sons Thomas & Benjamin one hundred Pounds each and to their two Daughters Eliz & Sarah one hundred Pounds each. I also Give and Bequeath to Mr Wm Hynam Surgeon of Ratcliff High Way and Mrs Eliz Godin the Sum of ffour hundred Pound for the special Trust and Purpose that they shall invest the said Sum in Government Securities and the Interest thereof to be paid into the hands of Ann Johnson wife of Henry Johnson for & during her naturall Life & after her Decease my Will is that the said Sum of ffour hundred Pounds shall be equally Divided between the Children lawfully begotten of the Body of the said Ann Johnson at their respectfully attaining the Age of twenty one Years. I also Give & Bequeath to the two Daughters of the said Ann Johnson Martha & Sarah one hundred Pounds each if either of the Daughters should not be living at my Decease her share to fall to the Survivor of the two the said Sum to be paid when of Age or Marry with the Consent of their Parents. I also Give & Bequeath to the two Sons of Robt Hynam Benjamin & William One Hundred Pounds each to be paid them when of Age by my Executor & Executrix hereafter mentioned and if either of the Sons should not be living at my Decease the share to fall to the survivor of the two. I also Give & Bequeath to Mr Thomas Wint of the Island of Jamaica one hundred Pounds. I also Give and Bequeath to Mrs Ann Dew of Newbury Berkshire. I also Give and Bequeath to my good friend Mr William Hynam of Ratcliff High Way two hundred pounds also my Gold Stop repeating watch who I appoint Joint Executor with Mrs Elizabeth Godin Widow. I Give & Bequeath to Mrs Hynam Wife of Mr William Hynam one hundred pounds.

I also Give and Bequeath three hundred Pounds to the Care of the Master & Wardens & Court of Assistance to the Worshipfull Company of Watch Makers the said three hundred Pounds to be invested by them in Government Securities & the Interest of the said Sum for Relief of the Poor of the Company to be paid them quarterly or half yearly in the usual manner as the company shall think fit.

I also Give and Bequeath to my Servant Betty Walter two hundred Pounds. I also Give and Bequeath to Mrs Coustos twenty pounds Wife of Mr Coustos Watchmaker Palace Row. I also Give to Edward Powell my Apprentice as was twenty pounds. I also Give to Mary Gerrard and Sarah Sparkes twenty Pounds each Daughters of Robt Nalder Deceased being relations of my Wife?s first Husband Mr Nalder. I Give to Mr Maglashan Surgeon twenty Pounds and in Case of his Decease the Sum to his Daughter.

I Give and Bequeath to my ffriends Mr William Hyman of Ratcliff High Way in the Parish of Saint George Middlesex Surgeon and Mrs Elizabeth Godin Widow & to the Survivor of them their Executors Admors or Assigns the sum of ffour hundred Pounds Sterling to Purchase an Annuity for Life on the Life of my Niece Sarah Hyman upon Trust that they my said Trustees and the Survivor of them their Executors Admors or Assigns do and shall from time to time receive the Interest and Produce of the said Annuity as the same shall become payable and pay into the hands of my Niece Sarah Hynan upon Trust (Wife of Robt Hynan now of St Petersburgh Russia) for and during her natural Life to and for her own sole use and benefit & I order and direct that the same shall not be subject or liable to the Controul Debts or Engagements of the Present or any future Husband and that her Receipt alone shall be sufficient Discharge for the same And Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint the aforesaid William Hynam and Eliz. Godin Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and after all my Just Debts Fines and Demands are settled whatever Sum or Sums are remaining (after my Decent requisite is settled) of which In have not the least Doubt I Give and Bequeath to my very good friend Mrs Elizabeth Godin my Executrix and do hereby revoke and make void all former wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and I do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this thirteenth Day of ffeby in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety Benjn Sidey.

A Codicil to be added and to be a part of the last Will and Testament of me Benjamin Sidey Of London Watchmaker of the Parish of St Stephen Coleman Street Whereas I have in my Will bearing Date the thirteenth Day of ffebruary in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety bequeathed to Mr Thos Wint the sum of one hundred Pounds and the said Thomas Wint being now Deceased I Give one hundred Pounds to Mr William Hynam my Executor in addition to what I have left the said William Hynam in my Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third Day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety two Benjamin Hynam

Affidavit as to due execution of the Codicil sworn by Charles Howse of Tower Street in the Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East Watchmaker and John Warren Pearse of Ratcliff High Way in the Parish of Saint George in the County of Middlesex Surgeon sworn 2 August 1794, Proved: 17 August 1794.

Benjamin Sidey verstarb um 1797 in London, er war wie sein Testament zeigt wohlhabend. Auch der Clockmakers Company wurde im Testament genannt was auch in die Archiven von der Company zurrückfindet.
