Onésime Dumas wird 1824 geboren. Er ist der Neffe von Jean François Henri Motel und erlernte den Beruf des Uhrmachers bei Louis Frédéric Perrelet und vervollkommnete seine Ausbildung bei Charles Auguste Berthoud.
Onésime Dumas stirbt 1889.
