About watch movements A. Lange und Söhne Calibre L903.0 of the model Tourbograph „Pour le Mérite“ A clockwork essentially consists of the function groups drive, train and escapement. The drive supplies the clockwork with energy, so that it moves. The train (transmission) serves for the revolutions increase (1 revolution per hour, per minute) and thus for the force reduction. The escapement restrains the operational sequence of the train. Further function groups are the winding mechanism, the zeigerwerk and the pointer servo unit. Über den winding mechanism wird der Antrieb mit Kraft versorgt. Das Zeigerwerk dient der Koppelung der Zeitanzeigeelemente. Die Zeigerstelleinrichtung dient, wie der Name schon sagt der Enstellung/Korrektur der angezeigten Zeit. Je nach Zusatzfunktion des Werkes bzw. der Uhr sind im Uhrwerk weitere Funktionsgruppen integriert. Dazu gehören u.a.: Beim Weckerwerk ertönt ein Signal zu einem vorher eingestellten Zeitpunkt. Das Schlagwerk (Repetition) gibt mit akustischen Signalen die Uhrzeit an. Das Kalenderwerk gibt je nach Aufbau verschiedene Informationen zum Datum. Das Chronographenwerk ermöglicht das Messen von Zeitabschnitten. Der automatische Aufzug wandelt die Bewegungsenergie des Trägers der Uhr in mechanische Energie zum Antrieb des Uhrwerkes um.
