A mid 19th Century Swiss centre seconds cylinder made for the Chinese market in a silver open face case. Unusual keywind bar movement with polished steel plate, bridges and suspended going barrel, polished steel regulator, blue steel stop work and screws. Polished steel three arm balance with, spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. White card dial with an inner chapter of Roman numerals outside which is a chapter in Chinese markings, centre seconds, blue steel hands. Plain silver open face case oval pendant and bow, engraved silver sprung cuvette, maker's mark "JDB" in an oval. Signed Bovet Fleurier, Circa 1840, Diameter 56 mm.
