On 1st January, 1589, two automaton crabs by Hans Schlottheim were registered as new items in the inventory of the Elector of Dresden's Chamber of Curiosities.
The company name Patek & Co. was changed to Patek Philippe & Co. on 1st January, 1851.
The German Naval Observatory, Hamburg was founded as an Institution of the German Empire on 1st January, 1875.
On 1st January, 1888, Germany introduced a standard system of identification of the purity of precious metals.
The Ladd Watch Case Company moved in to its new six-story factory building on 1st January, 1892.
The clock and watch manufacturer Union was founded on 1st January, 1893 in Glashütte.
Starting on 1st January, 1903, Oskar Hesse gave practical training at the German School of Clock and Watchmaking in Glashütte.
The Vocational College for Prospective Siver- and Goldsmiths in Schoonhoven was declared a Vocational College of the Empire on 1st January, 1920.
On 1st January, 1938, Herbert Wempe took over Chronometerwerke GmbH.
On 1st January, 1939, the property rights to H. Fuld & Co. were transferred to the company Lehner & Co.. Since then, the company trades under the name Telefonbau und Normalzeit Lehner & Co.
The manufactory Heuer and the Leonidas Watch Factory, Saint-Imier merged on 1st January, 1964 to become Heuer-Leonidas.
